I’m out in North Adams this weekend, where I’ll be guiding urban birding walks Saturday and Sunday for Wilco’s 2013 Solid Sound Festival.
I hadn’t even finished checking in at the festival’s Solid Ground campsite at the edge of town when I saw a pair of Common Grackles chasing a Cooper’s Hawk across the grounds.
As I set up my tent, I could hear Yellow Warblers calling in the nearby trees.
A quick walk around the edge of the camping area turned up a few Yellow Warblers, two Common Redstarts, and two Eastern Kingbirds. As I was typing this post — and after I’d put my camera away, of course — an American Kestrel made a low pass over the campsite.
