Peregrine Falcon over Appleton Street

There are some days when you feel like there are just no birds in the city at all, and that everything you’ve observed before has been an extended fluke.

Sunday was one of those days — until I ran across this Peregrine Falcon turning tight circles over the canal near the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center and the police station on Appleton Street. A moment later the falcon dove straight toward the canal, and then chased a pigeon within 15 feet of me.

A missed shot, but a breathtaking experience.
